Mind Over Body

The concept of mind over body is with the power of our mind and all of our thoughts, be it through specific exercises or occurrences, we are able to surpass our limits and do things that are deemed as impossible or extremely difficult. This occurs when we consciousness and sub-consciousness are able to work hand-in-hand to allow us to surpass our boundaries. Similar concepts have been applied through hypnotherapy.

Everything that goes through our mind do leave an impact on our body, one way or another. More often than not, the changes are rather small, so it goes unnoticed.

In this day and age, how can we better ourselves and achieve mind-muscle connection efficiently and effectively?

#1: Let our mind come to rest & be calm

We often over think things and might end up over analysing certain problems or scenarios. Even after the event has happened, the thought of it still lingers around. It appears to be easier for people to remember their bad experiences over rethinking about happy memories.

When we quieten our minds, we are in a good condition to renew and heal, allowing our body to have the ability and space to rest and rejuvenate. While our minds may not be hands on during our healing process, however, it can hinder and impede the process. When our minds are peaceful, it is a much better situation for our body to relax and heal as compared to when we are frustrated or worried.

We should learn more about the healing processes that is happening within us and "allow" them to occur. Our mind does not heal directly but by being aware, we can accept the healing process, knowing that it is important and allow for the right conditions for healing to occur in the most effective and efficient way possible.

#2: Meditate

Meditation helps to calm our mind & body, allowing us to relax peacefully and be at rest. It slows down our heart rate and breathing. Meditation increases our self awareness, aids to control our anxiety levels as well. It may boost our immune system and aid in the oxygen flow around our bodies.

We should try to meditate regularly and make it a habit. With regular practice, it will help us to enter a positive, calm and relaxed state quicker and easier.

There are several benefits to meditation and we would definitely do a separate post on it, so do look out for that!

#3: Focused

We should set goals and visualise them in our minds. Remain true to our goals and stay laser focused on them. This helps to block out undesirable thoughts and distractions. We should prevent negative thoughts from trying to hinder us in the process and keep moving towards our goals.

#4: Yoga

Yoga is another practice that has similar benefits as meditation. Yoga is becoming more and more popular these days as people engage in it to improve on their natural well-being and overall health.

Yoga stretches and strengthens muscles and at the same time calm the minds. It reconnects the mind and body. With proper postures and breathing techniques, it improves our balance, stave off mental decline and reduce stress!

Similar to meditation, there is a whole lot more that we can talk about yoga. We will be preparing a separate write up for that! So do stay tune!

In all, there is no immediate short cut that allows us to suddenly be at peace or be calm. It is a gradual process that we must engage in consistently and regularly. Through practice, it will help us to be better equipped with the techniques and procedures and therefore being able to have better mind over body control.

The best day to start is today!
