How do I get started?

You are definitely not alone. There are many people who wants to exercise and get fit. Some set it as their new year resolution but never follow through with it. If you are having trouble with coming up with a fitness plan or you are not following through with it, do not fret, we will provide some tips about how we can overcome it together!

Common problems people would face

  1. No time/busy schedule

  2. Don't know where/how to start

  3. Poor health

  4. Lack motivation/got discouraged

  5. "I hate it"

Just know that this should be a gradual and progressive process. No one is expecting you to lose weight or have 6-packs after working out for awhile. You need to be involved in this process over a period of time before you can see any results. So ditch the all or nothing attitude, having a little exercise is better than no exercise, and you don't need to cramp up 10 hours in the gym at once. Be kind to yourself and keep your expectations in check. We can't see immediate results right after one round of exercise. It has to be a consistent effort.

With regards to those problems faced earlier

1: No time/busy schedule

Even the busiest person can set some time aside to do our own activities that are important. It is important to prioritise and work your schedule around. Work your schedule around your fitness plan, sleep cycle, as well as meal timings. We should never compromise anything over our health. And remember, having 5-10 minutes of exercise is better than none.

2: Don't know where/how to start

3: Poor health

It is never too late to start. Regardless of your fitness/health level, there is definitely some exercises that you can start with to slow ramp up the foundations. However, do be realistic with your fitness plan so as to not aggravate any existing health conditions.

4: Lack motivation/got discouraged

Rome was not built in a day. The process takes time. Just like how a seed could grow into a big healthy tree in years, we can't and shouldn't expect ourselves to immediately become fit the next day! The process could take months or years, based on the intensity and effectiveness of our workouts!

5: "I hate it"

To be frank, many of us feel the same way. We do understand that you may not like the idea of feeling sweaty or being busy catching your breath after cardio. There are many different forms of exercises that you can partake in instead. You can swim, gym, dance, yoga and even walking around! There are so many different kinds of exercises that we can do, so don't limit yourself!

Remember, the best time to start is TODAY! It doesn't matter what you do or didn't do, as long as you get started, you will soon reap the benefits of exercising! #fitnessmadesimple
